Hold the probe and drag it to the tip of a leg. Tapping works too: first pick the probe, then the leg.

Set the range to Ω (resistance).

Measure step by step

Remove the part from the circuit or lift at least one of its legs. If you measure it in the circuit, parallel parts change the reading. Wirewound resistors get hot; wait for them to cool before measuring.
