DC motor
A shaft that turns with electricity; a small spinner that speeds up as you raise the voltage.
Spins a fan, wheel or pump; reversing its leads makes it spin the other way.
Toy cars, hair dryers and electric shavers.
A cylindrical metal body with a rotating shaft at one end and two solder tabs at the back.
Draws a lot of current at start-up; don't drive it directly from a pin and don't hold the spinning shaft.
It is a brushed motor that spins when DC voltage is applied. Reversing the leads reverses the direction, and lowering the voltage lowers the speed. While running, especially at start-up, it draws more current than a pin can supply.
IEC 60617: the drawing style used in Türkiye and Europe.
